We Remember Roxy

Roxy Correa was a precious little dog who finally lost her long battle with renal disease.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

We Remember Sabastian

Sebastian Dakota Lopez was my first love as an adult.  He was only 7 months old when we met. We rescued each other.  I rescued him from the Humane Society and he rescued me from a lonely first year at a new college.  I remember the doubts I had when I first got him.  It was similar to the doubts I would have when my son would be born 7 years later.  I realize now that I had the doubts that every new mother feels when they are responsible for the life of a loved one. At the time, I felt, Sebastian was my first son.  He was so gracious to let me dress him and take him everywhere I went and all he would do is give me this look that would say "are you serious" or "oh no, not again".  Those were the only complaint this mild mannered sweet boy would give.

As he got older he lost his sight.  Others told me I should put him down but I would say "would you put down your kid just because they couldn't see?"  He was still a great companion.  Even with the loss of his sight he managed to hang in there for another 6 years.  He helped me through the devastating death of my uncle and many heartbreaks and disappointments. With all of life's challenges I was confident that I would be able to come home to a heroes welcome.  Sebastian was always there to greet me and help me to remember that I was a hero in his eyes.  I will always love and miss Sebastian.  He was 7 months when we met and 14 years when we said goodbye. He will forever be in my heart and thoughts.

We Remember Bailey

1994 ~ 2008

Bailey was the light of our life for 14 years.  She would follow Paul everywhere he went.  She was well trained and always did what she was told.  She was easy to house train and got along with our four cats.  She never growled at anyone and never barked at anyone except the UPS (maybe she just didn't like the brown outfit).   She will be missed very much and when we talk about her she always brings a tear or two. Rest in Peace Bailey.

We Remember Baby

Baby was one of the dearest, sweetest, most gentle dogs I've ever known, and I'm blessed that she got to live with her sister LuLu and I.  We so much thank the wonderful friends Baby made at Palm Plaza Pet Hospital. And a special thank you to Alicia who made Baby want to visit even when she felt good.  Even though the outcome wasn't the one we wanted, it was no fault of anyone. Baby had developed a huge tumor near her heart. She never would have lived a very good life for long.

Baby's main reason to live was to eat - anything. She sometimes ended up visiting Palm Plaza because she had eaten the wrong thing.

LuLu and I will miss Baby horribly. She was so special.

Our thanks to Sandra Idleman for this memorial tribute.

We Remember Nushka

We lost Nushka about 2 years ago. Her nickname was "Mama" she treated all additions to our pack as they were her kids. She was so nurturing, caring, and she was my shadow. Unfortunately, she suffered the same fate as her father, and her vertebrae in her back began to put pressure on her spinal cord. She had lost all function to the right side of her body one night, and we knew what we had to do. Palm Plaza was so good to her, and you could tell she was ready to meet her dad on the other side of the rainbow.

Nushka was always full of life, loved her time she got to spend with me with our horses, just me and her. She always loved to be with other dogs especially Lilo, but she especially loved our alone time together. I know she lived a wonderful full life, camping under the stars, seeing bears, deer, and all the other critters we ran into. She loved playing in the stream with her dad amongst the great red wood trees of Sequoia. Its seems even though her life was full, it is never long enough, I wish we could have spent more then 10 years together. I know she is in a much better place now, she feels no pain, she can run and play with all of the others we have lost in the past. I know we will meet again someday, and camp, hike, and play in streams again. We will forever love and miss Nushka.

Thank you Palm Plaza for giving our Nushka so much compassion and love in her passing...

We Remember Lou

My dog "Lou" died February 16th at Palm Plaza, so I wanted to give you some information about him.  I got "Lou" in 2003 from the Lancaster Shelter.  I named him Lou because I had rescued another Pointer mix that had the same coloring as him not too long before that.  Her name is "Lucy" and they looked like a pair, so I thought the name fit.  He was a beautiful dog with the most gorgeous green eyes.  Lou had a bad leg and limped a little but he was feisty and could still keep up with the other dogs.  He loved to race around the yard and play with the other dogs.  He was so full of life and energy and had a wonderful spirit.

He was also very inquisitive and loved getting into things. In these pictures he stuck his head into the cat food container and got the top stuck on his head!  That was my sweet boy.  He was the clown in the bunch and was always a happy boy.  I am still heartbroken and am missing him terribly.  He was only a few years old.  I would have never expected him to have gone before my older ones.  I thank Darlene Hernandez and the entire staff of Palm Plaza Pet Hospital for doing such a wonderful job in taking care of him and trying to save him.  Thank you for everything you did to try and help Lou.
