JOIN US ON THIS SPECIAL DAY TO YOUR BELOVED COMPANION!
Sunday, June 6, 2010 11:00am – 4:00pm PawsWay Pet Discovery Centre 245 Queen’s Quay West, Toronto
PawsWay is a pet friendly centre!
This year’s World Pet Memorial Day is being hosted by People Passionate About Pets in partnership with PawsWay Pet Discovery Centre.
What is World Pet Memorial Day?
Communities gather across the world to honour, remember and celebrate their beloved animal companions on World Pet Memorial Day.
This is a day for people, whose grief is often silenced, to come together and honour the bonds they have shared with their animals in a public forum.
What will happen at the event?
If you or someone you know has experienced the loss of a companion animal, don’t miss this event! It will be full of information, resources, and the chance to connect with others who have experienced the profound loss that comes with losing a beloved pet.
In the morning and afternoon, community booths will speak about their services and provide valuable information and resources related to pet loss. You will have the chance to visit each booth to get even more detailed information about their services and ask any questions you may have.
The cornerstone of the day will be the Remembrance Vigil, which will take place from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. This will be a chance for us to formally remember and celebrate our beloved animal companions through a range of hands-on activities.
If you are comfortable in doing so, please bring an item that you can post on the “Forever in our Hearts” board (e.g. picture, piece of writing, etc.)
Neil Crone, Actor & Writer, will be joining us during the Remembrance Vigil as a Keynote Speaker to talk about his experiences with pet loss.
Neil is an actor and writer who lives with his wonderful wife, two teenage boys and one hilarious dog in a town so small everybody knows where everyone else’s birthmarks are. Cheryl Hiebert (www.sacred-journeys.ca)
Founder of Sacred Journeys Healing Arts Centre: Holistic Health Care and Workshops that empower men and women on their journey in life. Sharing my wisdom one-on-one or in groups is my passion. I am in bliss when I can share information that helps people feel empowered in their life and their path. I am also dedicated to the wellness of all animals. My practice includes working with animals, doing animal communication and teaching workshops for their holistic health care. I am currently writing a book on a topic dear to my heart. The book is Losing Willow: Grieving the Loss of An Animal Companion. I was inspired to write this book when I found out my dog Willow was diagnosed with lymphoma and had 3 months to live. I began to journal about our life together and a book began to evolve. After his passing, I realized that a resource like this was not available to anyone grieving the loss of their faithful animal companion. It is now my mission to bring this book to the world. Help me to do this by placing your vote before May 2, 2010. Your vote will provide me with a once in a lifetime opportunity to win a publishing contract and make this book a reality!
This book is for anyone who has had the wonderful profound relationship with an animal companion. It will help those who are grieving the loss of their animal companion, and they will learn that they are not alone in their deep feelings of loss and sadness. This book celebrates the life and relationships we have with our pets, it talks about the grieving process and how to handle that loss, as well as offering insights and stories from others. I have entered a world-wide contest for the next top author. Please visit www.nexttopauthor.com to vote and enter Hiebert or ID#2975.

Sometimes my art is about the simple pleasures in life like dogs, cats, and beautiful flowers. But, I also like to do paintings that make people thing, challenge their pre-conceptions of what life is really like. And, sometimes I bring my own life into my art. You can find me every Saturday at St. Lawrence Market, 7am – 3pm, where I mind my stall and chat with my customers. This is art, this is my life …
Brown Dog Pet Memorials (http://browndogpetmemorials.com)
Many years ago our family adopted a dog. Most people would have described her as a large brown shaggy looking animal with a lovely disposition, a bit rambunctious and not overly bright. We loved her and although she was the family dog, in my mind, she was my dog. One that would accompany me on long runs and who was a constant friend and loyal companion. As the years went by the dog couldn’t run any more, found it difficult to walk, and developed other medical problems. Old age slowly set in but it was still my dog, my friend, and my companion. When the dog died, I and my family felt profound pain and sorrow. will never forget that brown dog. Her ashes are buried in a special place close to our cottage garden. Whenever I walk by I end up talking to her no matter how silly it might look. When we first looked for something appropriate to mark the spot, we could find nothing. At least nothing fitting for my friend and companion. That brown dog deserved something better so we designed our own memorial.
We later thought that there must be other pet owners with stories similar to ours. Pet owners who wanted something of quality to commemorate their special friend. That is how “Brown Dog Pet Memorials” came into being. Brown Dog Pet Memorials accurately reproduces your pets photograph onto stainless steel using high temperature precision lasers. Your special photograph can now be combined with words of endearment and drawings creating a permanent work of art designed to be either a memorial or keepsake capturing the essence of your pet in an extremely practical, durable format. Suitable for both outdoor and indoor display --- many are displayed in offices, homes, gardens, and at burial sites. Wherever you want.
